Abstract

Trombolytic treatment is one of the less invasive methods which can be used in the treatment of thrombosis or em bolism. The joined group formed by the Peripheral Arterial Unit of General Surgery and Radiodiagnostic Clinics of the İstanbul Medica,l Faculty has applied thrombolytic treatment to 16 different patients during 1992-1994. The indication in 1O pat ients was acute arterial occlusion, thrombosis caused by PTA or steni usage in 5 patients and, occluded bypass in one patient. in all the patients the method was infusion into the thrombosis by selective catheterization. Streptokinase was used in 2 patients, urokinase in 11 patients and, tpa in 3 patients. There have been a failure in 4 patients (25 %), however, in two of these patients there was also occluding mechanic lesion apart from the thrombo sis. When applied selectively aiıd into the thrombosis in the properly selected patients, thrombolytic treatment is a very promising method.
